What is not covered?
Not all veterinary costs are covered. Examples include:
- Pre-existing conditions
- Routine or preventative care, such as regular check-ups, vaccines and preventative medication
- Claims or conditions arising during an applicable waiting period

How claims work
Your pet may receive treatment from any licensed veterinarian in Belgium. How eligible costs are paid depends on whether the veterinarian is part of the PetExpert partner network.

At a partner veterinarian
The veterinary practice sends the required information to PetExpert. If the claim is eligible and approved, PetExpert may pay the veterinary practice directly. You pay the applicable deductible and any costs that are not covered.

At any other licensed veterinarian
You pay the veterinary practice and submit the required claim information to PetExpert. If the claim is eligible and approved, PetExpert reimburses the eligible costs, less the applicable deductible.

Your pet may visit any licensed Belgian veterinarian. Visit the PetExpert website to see which clinics are current partners.

Routine or preventative care, such as regular check-ups, vaccines and preventative medication, is not included in cover because these costs can usually be planned and budgeted for.
What are pre-existing conditions? Are they covered?

The consequence of an injury or illness that does not manifest itself until after the insurance has commenced, but which is causally related to the injury or illness that occurred before signing up to the insurance

You must live in Belgium and your pet must meet the applicable age requirements. The quote journey will confirm whether your pet is eligible.
How much does PetExpert Insurance cost?
The price depends on your pet and the insurance solution selected. The quote journey will provide your pet’s personalised price.

PetExpert Insurance is a form of non-life insurance that offers you financial relief when you’re suddenly faced with vet bills, including for treatment of injuries, illnesses, operations, aftercare, hospitalisation, medication, or related expenses.
PetExpert took out this collective insurance policy with KBC Insurance NV. PetExpert and KBC Insurance NV may each terminate the collective insurance contract annually. You are insured once you have joined the insurance and paid the enrollment contribution.
- This product is governed by the laws of Belgium.
- The insurance period lasts one year and is automatically renewed on the annual renewal date for successive periods of one year.
- You may end your participation in the insurance on the annual renewal date by providing at least two months’ prior notice.
- From the second insurance period onward, you may also end your participation at any time. The termination takes effect two months after the day following submission of the registered letter, service of the formal notice, or the date of the acknowledgment of receipt.
- PetExpert Belgium BV, Sint Michielslaan 65/6, 1040 Brussels, Belgium, is your first point of contact for any complaints you may have. If you cannot find a suitable solution, you can contact the Belgian insurance industry’s ombudsman service: Ombudsman van de Verzekeringen, de Meeûssquare 35, 1000 Brussels, Insurance Ombudsman. However, you always retain the right to initiate legal proceedings.

- You will also become a KBC Insurance client when you take the PetExpert insurance.
